Comment on Sculpture
"It is a great honor for me to have been given the opportunity to shape may admiration for Jack Nicklaus in bronze. I first me Mr. Nicklaus at his home in Ohio when I was commissioned to create a statue of him for the 2008 Ryder Cup. He posed patiently for about three hours as I sculpted his head in clay. It is important for me to get to know the person I sculpt so I can best interpret their likeness and character. The Nicklaus family could not have been more kind and generous in their hospitality.
The statue captures Jack's ecstasy after sinking a birdie putt on the 71st hole at Baltusrol Golf Club during the 1980 U.S. Open. That chanpionship was his fourth U.S. Open victory and the photo is one of Barbara's favorite pictures of her husband."
