Richard Tufts
Over-life size sculpture of Richard Tufts, by artist Zenos Frudakis, is installed in a Walk of Fame—overlooking the 18th hole of Pinehurst No.2. Richard Tufts (1896 - 1980) was often called "The Man Who Was Pinehurst," or "Mr. Golf." He was influential in bringing the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup to Pinehurst. Tuft was President of the U.S. Golf Association in 1956 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1992.
